BMW MOA Labor Day Weekend Rally
Watkins Glen, NY  Sep 4-5, 1999
Getting there is half the fun, or is it?
Waiting for help on ramp to I-90
The BMW MOA rally is held every year on Labor Day weekend, at a different location each year.  About 800 bikes show up at this rally, so it is quite a big event.  This year's was at Watkins Glen, NY on Lake Seneca, the Finger Lakes region.  A very beautiful region for riding.

I didn't have to far to come, from Ottawa, but I didn't make it without any problems either.  From the 81/90 interchange at Syracuse, my clutch adjustment bolt came loose and fell off.  Not having a spare, that left me stranded, waiting for AAA to come to my rescue.  It was embarassing, to say the least, to have my bike trucked the rest of the way to the site of the Rally.  I could only hope someone there would have a spare clutch adjustment bolt.

Scenes from the rally site

The most prolific rider I have ever met.
This guy had over 500,000 miles on his BMW
and had the seals to prove it.

A /2 w/ sidecar for sale.  This rally was big enough to have a vendor
and service area as well as several vintage bikes there for show.

Hanging out around the bikes.
Getting home (in one piece)
Here we are, for Sunday Brunch, before it was time for me to head home.  Luckily I was able to find someone with a clutch adjustment bolt.  It wasn't exactly a spare, but the couple who rode down, were riding on one piston and decided not to ride that way home.  So they let me "borrow" their adjustment bolt which I mailed back to them from Ottawa once I ordered my replacement.

What a trip!
